As it pleases You, You save me; I have come seeking Your Sanctuary


सचु साहु हमारा तूं धणी सभु जगतु वणजारा राम राजे ॥
Sacẖ sāhu hamārā ṯūʼn ḏẖaṇī sabẖ jagaṯ vaṇjārā rām rāje.
You are my True Banker, O Lord; the whole world is Your trader, O Lord King.


सभ भांडे तुधै साजिआ विचि वसतु हरि थारा ॥
Sabẖ bẖāʼnde ṯuḏẖai sāji▫ā vicẖ vasaṯ har thārā.
You fashioned all vessels, O Lord, and that which dwells within is also Yours.


जो पावहि भांडे विचि वसतु सा निकलै किआ कोई करे वेचारा ॥
Jo pāvahi bẖāʼnde vicẖ vasaṯ sā niklai ki▫ā ko▫ī kare vecẖārā.
Whatever You place in that vessel, that alone comes out again. What can the poor creatures do?

जन नानक कउ हरि बखसिआ हरि भगति भंडारा ॥२॥
Jan Nānak ka▫o har bakẖsi▫ā har bẖagaṯ bẖandārā. ||2||
The Lord has given the treasure of His devotional worship to servant Nanak. ||2||

जिउ भावै तिउ राखि लै हम सरणि प्रभ आए राम राजे ॥
Ji▫o bẖāvai ṯi▫o rākẖ lai ham saraṇ parabẖ ā▫e rām rāje.
As it pleases You, You save me; I have come seeking Your Sanctuary, O God, O Lord King.


हम भूलि विगाड़ह दिनसु राति हरि लाज रखाए ॥
Ham bẖūl vigāṛah ḏinas rāṯ har lāj rakẖā▫e.
I am wandering around, ruining myself day and night; O Lord, please save my honor!


हम बारिक तूं गुरु पिता है दे मति समझाए ॥
Ham bārik ṯūʼn gur piṯā hai ḏe maṯ samjẖā▫e.
I am just a child; You, O Guru, are my father. Please give me understanding and instruction.


जनु नानकु दासु हरि कांढिआ हरि पैज रखाए ॥४॥१०॥१७॥
Jan Nānak ḏās har kāʼndẖi▫ā har paij rakẖā▫e. ||4||10||17||
Servant Nanak is known as the Lord's slave; O Lord, please preserve his honor!
