The Best and Worst Oils for your health...

The Best and Worst Oils for your health...
The Best and Worst Oils for your health...

Don’t be scared of saturated fats! The MOST stable and healthful fats for cooking and occasional frying at higher temperatures/smoke points are certain animal fats and tropical oils, which belong to the saturated fat family.

Coconut oil: Coconut oil is a tropical oil that is great for sautéing and baking and you can eat it right out of the jar if you need some high quality saturated fat. Coconut

oil has anti-microbial properties and has shown to have anti-inflammatory effects. It is one of the best if not the best saturated fat and is easy to digest because it contains medium-chain fatty acids.

Ghee (Indian Clarified Butter): Ghee is a stable, saturated butterfat with the milk solids (casein proteins) removed. It is safe for cooking and light frying. If you are intolerant to butter, try ghee. Ghee is prepared by melting and simmering unsalted butter at a medium temperature until the water content of the butter has evaporated off. Ghee can be found in co-ops and most upscale grocery stores.

Butter: Don’t forget butter! Raw unprocessed butter from grass-fed cows contains Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids in good ratios. Butterfat increases brain function and increases cell membrane integrity.

Make sure to have one or two of these Omega-3 fats on hand: Walnut Oil, Flax seed Oil, Hemp Oil, and Fish Oil. We do not get enough of these Omega-3 fats in our diet. These oils are great to use in salad dressings that we can make at home which are much better than store bought salad dressings. These oils need to be refrigerated. They can go rancid easily stored at room temperature!

Olive Oil: Olive is a great fat to put on salads and many people like to dip their bread in olive oil. Make sure the oil is Extra Virgin Olive Oil and make sure the oil comes in an opaque container as light can easily damage it. Also, olive oil should be refrigerated as heat can make it go rancid easily. Cooking with olive oil is a somewhat controversial issue. Theories have arisen that heating olive oil can damage it or change the chemical make-up. I’m of the opinion that cooking with coconut oil or ghee are better options.

Fats that should NOT be in your kitchen and you should AVOID!
Margarine or any imitation buttery spreads. The popular method used to process oils is HYDROGENATION. Examples of hydrogenated fats are margarine and shortening. This process transforms the fats, which are naturally liquid at room temperature, into solid at room temperature fats so they are stable for long periods of time. This is a big plus for the processed food industry because these are cheap oils to extract in the first place. Extending their shelf-life through the hydrogenation process makes them even more economical. It’s the health of the public that pays the price! The hydrogenation process usually begins with extracted, already rancid oils from the EXTRACTION phase. [Please be aware that other oils may also be processed, as well as certain saturated fats - mainly tropical oils. Do not consume processed/refined fats or tropical oils! They are as damaging to the body as any other refined/hydrogenated oil!] This is just the beginning of the process in changing these oils into something that can be put on supermarket shelves. Color and odor are added back in to make these chemically altered now Trans-fats resemble butter. Nature did not intend for us to ingest foods that are this heavily processed. The human body cannot recognize these kinds of fats as food! When we consume extracted and hydrogenated fats, we lose the ability to utilize healthy fats properly. Healthy fatty acids are displaced by the “franken-fatty acids” cascading the body into serious health problems such as cancer, diabetes, birth defects, sexual dysfunction, heart disease, and poor bone health, to name a few.

The following oils are UNSAFE to consume under any circumstances!

Canola Oil: Even though Canola is classified as a monounsaturated fat, it is also naturally high in omega-3 fatty acids. Extracted from the hybridized rapeseed, which is a genetically modified crop, canola is a HIGHLY PROCESSED oil! The omega-3 fatty acids in canola are delicate and turn rancid quickly during processing. Therefore, given the fact that canola oil must move through damaging extraction processes to be harvested and deodorized, it is safe to say that canola oil is unfit for consuming, much less cooking! It is an oil of industry and DOES NOT belong in the human digestive tract! Canola is the current oil of choice for prepared foods at Whole Foods Markets across the country.

Cottonseed Oil: Cotton is one of the most genetically modified, pesticide-laden crops in America. Besides the danger of ingesting these pesticides, when did cotton and its seed become a food? Is there anyone out there eating cotton for breakfast? I certainly hope not! Mentioned earlier in this article, the extraction and hydrogenation processes quarantine pesticides in the oil, therefore the high pesticide levels found in cotton are reason enough to recommend it as inedible! Cottonseed oil is hydrogenated most of the time and is one of the main ingredients in Crisco shortening along with hydrogenated soybean oil. Avoid cottonseed oil at all costs!

Corn and Soy oils: See above. Vegetable oils are derived from Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s). That’s the first strike. The seconds is they go through the same process as Canola and Cottonseed oil. Don’t eat it!

AVOID all fats, oils and the products that contain them if the following processing terms are listed ANYWHERE on ANY food label:
¬Refined¬, Hydrogenated,¬ Partially-Hydrogenated,¬ Cold-PROCESSED (do not confuse this trick phrase with Cold-PRESSED).

INSTEAD, look for these safer processing terms on your fat/oil labels:
¬ Organic,¬ First-cold pressed or Cold-Pressed,¬ Expeller-Pressed,¬ Unrefined,¬ Extra Virgin.

Remember fats are not the enemy. Saturated fats are in every cell in our body and give the walls of the cell their shape and consistency, so cells can move nutrients in and out of them and perform all of their functions properly. Get the correct 1:1 ratio of Omega-3 to Omega-6 fats in your diet and consume whole nutrient dense foods and stay away from processed foods! Eat the foods nature intended us to eat, not something created in a laboratory.

What is Shiva Lingam?

What is Shiva Lingam?
What is Shiva Lingam?

“Lingam” is one of the most misunderstood motifs of Hinduism. It has been subject to such a bad smear campaigning by Westerners, especially missionaries, which even Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as a stylized phallic symbol. The expression ‘linga’ in the Agama context signifies ‘symbol’ (chinha). Derived from the root ‘ligi gatyau’, it refers to movement, and words having been movement as

their etymological meaning have also connotations of knowledge (‘sarve gatyarthah jnanarthah’). Linga therefore means that by which the Divine is cognized or approached (‘lingyate jnayate anena iti lingam’).

The Agama texts also bring out another valid explanation for the word ‘linga’: linga in its primary sense is broken up into ‘ling’ (to dissolve, to get merged, to destroy) and ‘ga’ (to emerge, to go out). Linga is so called because all phenomena are dissolved in Siva at the time of cosmic dissolution, and it emerges from Siva once again at the time of creation. (Ajitagama, 3, 16-17).

Thus Shiva Linga represents the mark of the cosmos.

Swami Vivekananda gave by far the best rebuttal to Western claims that it might be a symbol of phallic worship, by giving proof from the vedas.

Swami Vivekananda gave a lecture at the Paris Congress of the History of Religions in 1900 during which he refuted the statements of some Western scholars that referred to Shiva linga as phallic worship. Vivekananda’s words at the congress were in connection with the paper read by Mr.Gustav Oppert, a German Orientalist, who tried to trace the origin of the Shalagrama-Shila and the Shiva-Linga to phallicism. To this Vivekananda objected, adducing proof from the Vedas, and particularly the Atharva-Veda Samhita, to the effect that the Shiva-Linga had its origin in the idea of the Yupa-Stambha or Skambha—the sacrificial post, idealized in Vedic ritual as the symbol of the Eternal Brahman.
Swami Sivananda, also explains why equating Siva Lingam with the phallus is a mistake. According to him, “This is not only a serious mistake, but also a grave blunder. In the post-Vedic period, the Linga became symbolical of the generative power of the Lord Siva. Linga is the differentiating mark. It is certainly not the sex-mark. You will find in the Linga

Purana:

“Pradhanam prakritir yadahur-lingamuttamam; Gandhavarnarasairhinam sabda-sparsadi-varjitam”—

The foremost Linga which is primary and is devoid of smell, colour, taste, hearing, touch, etc., is spoken of as Prakriti (Nature).”

Bana lingam (One kind of Shiva linga )The Bana Lingam is a most Sacred Symbol and Divine Energy Tool, both in the ancient and in this modern world. The Bana Lingas are Swayambhu Shiva Lingas that have taken shape in the Sacred Narmada River, in the Central Western part of India. This is why the Bana Lingams are also known as the Narmada Banalingas or Narmadeshwar Shiva Lingas. The Narmadha Bana Lingas became very famous throughout the world, after the film “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” was screened : this is the very same Sacred Stone that they were searching for .The story:There is a story narrated in Aparajita-pariprchchha (205, 1-26) about the origin of the bana-lingas and their association with the Narmada river. Siva wanted to destroy the ‘tri-pura’, which had been obtained as a boon by the arrogant demon Banasura, and he let go a fiery dart from his great bow ‘pinaka’. The dart broke the three ‘puras’ into tiny bits, which fell on three spots:1, on the hills in Sri-kshetra (of unknown identity),2, on the peaks of Amarakantaka in the Vindhya ranges, and3, on the banks of the holy river Narmada. The bits that fell in these places soon multiplied into crores,. each bit becoming a linga. As they formed part of the possession of Banasura, they were called Bana-Lingas.

Science:It is the considered view of many researchers and geologists that the unique composition of the Narmadha Shiva Lingas was due to the impregnation of it’s rocky river-sides and the rocks in the river bed, 14 million years ago by a large meteorite that crashed into the Narmada River. The fusion of the Meteorite and the Earthly Minerals has spawned a new and unique type of Crystalline Rock with extraordinary energetic qualities – the Narmada Bana Lingam. The bana Lingas contain Crypto Crystalline Quartz (masses made up of either fibrous or granular aggregates of tiny, microscopic Quartz Crystals) and a Gemstone material called Chalcedony (with an iron oxide and geothite inclusion) alongwith Basalt and Agate – this unique composition coupled with elliptical shape has a precise resonance in alignment with our Energy Centers or Chakras and are used for thousands of years as Divine Energy Generators for Cleansing, Healing and for Meditation. The Narmada Bana Lingas are quite strong and the hardness is a 7 on the Moe’s Scale, one of the highest frequency vibration rates of all stones on earth. The vibration of bana linga is said to be perfect for purification purpose.

Thus Matsya-Purana (Chap. 165-169), truly said drinking the water from this river (Narmada) and worshipping Siva (Bana Lingam) will secure freedom from all states of misery

7 Dangerous acts after a meal

7 Dangerous acts after a meal~
7 Dangerous acts after a meal

7 Dangerous acts after a meal~

1. Don’t smoke —- Experiments from experts proves that smoking a cigarette after meal is comparable to smoking 10 cigarettes (chances of cancer is higher)

2. Don’t eat fruits immediately — Immediately eating fruits after meals will cause stomach to be bloated with air. Therefore take fruits 1 -2 hours after meal or 1 hour before meal.

3. Don’t drink tea—— Because tea leaves contain a high content of acid. This substance will cause the protein content in the food we consume to be hundred thus difficult to digest.

4. Don’t loosen your belt———- Loosening the belt after meal will easily cause the intestine to be twisted and blocked.

5. Don’t bathe———- ——- Bathing after meal will cause the increase of blood flow to the hands, legs and body thus the amount of blood around the stomach will therefore decrease, this will weaken the digestive system in our stomach.

6. Don’t walk about———- — People always say that after a meal walk a hundred steps and you will live till 99. In actual fact this is not true. Walking will cause the digestive system to be unable to absorb the nutrition from the food we intake.

7. Don’t sleep immediately—- ——– The food we intake will not be to digest properly. Thus will lead to gastric and infection in our intestine

7 steps for quick weight loss

1. Buy a skipping rope
Skipping is a high-intensity exercise that you can do anytime, anywhere. You only need a few minutes to give your metabolic rate a serious jump start that will help you burn more calories for hours afterwards.

2. Replace all drinks with water
This includes alcohol! Hydration is an important factor in optimal health and weight loss. Liquid calories are also the easiest to over-consume as they don't fill you up. Water has zero calories and no additives.

3. Two minute workouts
When you wake up, and when you get home from work, do one to two minutes of plyometric exercises such as star jumps or burpees. Like skipping, they max out your heart rate and boost your metabolism in minimal time.

4. Cut the calories
Reduce calorie-dense complex carbs and protein by replacing half your meal with more salad and vegetables. They are naturally low in calories and high in fibre, so you will seriously reduce the total number of calories you are consuming.

5. Count your steps
Get yourself a pedometer and make sure you take at least 10,000 steps a day. You have to be active every day as well as exercising - not one or the other, both! Get up more often in the office and go for a walk during breaks.

6. Non stop for fat loss
Turn your weights session into a fat-loss super-circuit. Don't rest between sets. Do your exercises back to back with no rest, too, then jump on a bike for a two-minute cardio burn. Rest briefly, then repeat your circuit three times.

7. Stretch out your workout
It's the end of the week so get out for a slower but longer workout, such as a long power walk, gentle swim or bike ride. While intense exercise is great for incinerating fat, long slow workouts also have their place.

New Airport in Kuwait

The new airport will have an innovative design-a modern approach and a practical one, too since the climate in Kuwait is one of the hottest in the entire world.

The plan is to increase the airport’s capacity of receiving more passengers; initially it will welcome around 13 million passengers per year. The terminal has the shape of a shamrock-the typical trefoil architectural design. Each wing of each departure gate is equal to the other.

This is the first airport in the world that aims to win the LEED prize(the environmental accreditation). The eco friendly structure deflects the direct solar radiation because the huge single roof that encapsulates the entire airport is punctuated by glazed openings that filter the sun beams. The columns are made of concrete and they bear the resemblance of Kuwait’s sailing boats, the traditional dhow. The entrance plaza is gigantic and is shaded by the roof thus offering the passengers the comfort they need.

Buddha Statue in Leshan

The Leshan Giant Buddha was built during the Tang Dynasty (618–907AD). It is carved out of a cliff face that lies at the confluence of the Minjiang, Dadu and Qingyi rivers in the southern part of Sichuan province in China, near the city of Leshan.

The stone sculpture faces Mount Emei, with the rivers flowing below his feet. It is the largest carved stone Buddha in the world and it is by far the tallest pre-modern statue in the world. The Mount Emei Scenic Area, including Leshan Giant Buddha Scenic Area has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. It was not damaged by the 2008 Sichuan earthquake.

Construction was started in 713, led by a Chinese monk named Haitong and was completed in 803 by Haitong's disciples. At 71 metres (233 feet) tall, the statue depicts a seated Maitreya Buddha with his hands resting on his knees. His shoulders are 28 metres wide and his smallest toenail is large enough to easily accommodate a seated person.

mosquito coil equals 100 cigarettes,

One mosquito coil equals 100 cigarettes, says expert

New Delhi: Smoke emitted from one mosquito repellent coil is equivalent to those of 100 cigarettes, thus causing harm to a large number of people in India, an expert said.

"Not many people know about it, but the damage done to your lungs by one mosquito coil is equivalent to the damage done by 100 cigarettes. This was according to a recent study conducted in Malyasia," said Chest Research Foundation director Sandeep Salvi. He was speaking at the conference 'Air Pollution and Our Health', organised by the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) along with the Indian Council for Medical Research and the Indian Medical Association. Mr Salvi said there is a lack of awareness about the impact of air pollution on human health. Pointing out the "lack of research culture" among Indian doctors, Salvi said that indoor air pollution too is a health risk factor. Participants at the event, which included doctors and health researchers, also spoke about vehicular air pollution in the capital.

According to estimates, about 55 per cent of Delhi's population lives within 500 metres from main roads - and is, therefore, prone to a variety of physical disorders. "The vehicular pollution is a major concern for the environment. The rising incidents of genetic disorder have a lot to do with air pollution.

India loses one million children under five because of respiratory problems every year," said Sanjeev Bagai, the chief executive officer of Batra Hospitals. He said industries also contribute to the air pollution and these need to be shifted out of the capital.

Rajasthan Sariska Tiger reserve

Sariska Tiger Reserve is a national park which lies in the Alwar district of Rajasthan state of India.  In the pre-independence period the forests within the Reserve were maintained as a hunting reserve area for the royalty of the former Alwar State. After independence, it got the status of wildlife reserve in the year 1955 when it became unlawful to hunt, shoot, net, trap, snare, capture or kill any kind of wild animals. It was promoted to a Sanctuary in 1958 and finally became a Tiger reserve in the year 1978 making it a part of India’s Project Tiger scheme.

It is now a prime tiger country. The present area of the Reserve is 866kms which is divided into dry deciduous forests, steep cliffs, grasslands and rocky landscape. The two main types of forest present are tropical dry deciduous forest and tropical thorn forest.

The main species of flora here are the Dhok (Anogeissues pendula) trees which cover nearly 90 percent area of the forest. The other types of trees are Kattha (Acacia Catechu) and Bamboo which are common in the valleys. Dhak (Butea monosperma) and Ber (Zizyphus spp) are also found in the valleys. Salar (Boswellia serreta) and Gol ( Lannea coromandelica) grow at rocky patches. Besides there, some other notable trees are Arjun (Terminalia arjuna), Gugal (Commiphora wightii), Kadaya (Sterculia urens) and Bargad (Ficus benghalensis). Shrubs such as Kair (Capparis deciduas), Adusta (Adhatoda vesica) and Jhar ber (Ziziphus nummularis) are plentiful.

A variety of other wild animals like leopard, jungle cat, caracal, striped hyena, golden jackal, chital, sambhar, blue bull, chinkara, wild boar, hare and langur are found here apart from the tiger. The Sariska National Park is home to India’s largest population of peafowl, harbours quail, sand grouse, golden-backed woodpeckers and crested serpent eagles along with many other species of birds. Moreover, the Siliserh lake on the edge of the park has a large number of replies including crocodiles.

The wise farmer

Many years ago, in a poor Chinese village, there lived a farmer and his son. His only material possession, apart from the land and a small hut, was a horse he had inherited from his father. One day, the horse ran away, leaving the man with no animal with which to work the land. His neighbours, who respected him for his honesty and diligence, went to his house to say how much they regretted his loss. He thanked them for their visit, but asked: “How do you know that what happened was a misfortune in my life?”Someone muttered to a friend: “He obviously doesn’t want to face facts, but let him think what he likes, after all, it’s better than being sad about it.” And the neighbors went away again, pretending to agree with what he had said. A week later, the horse returned to its stable, but it was not alone; it brought with it a beautiful mare for company. The inhabitants of the village were thrilled when they heard the news, for only then did they understand the reply the man had given them, and they went back to the farmer’s house to congratulate him on his good fortune. “Instead of one horse, you’ve got two. Congratulations!” they said. “Many thanks for your visit and for your solidarity,” replied the farmer. “But how do you know that what happened was a blessing in my life?” The neighbours were rather put out and decided that the man must be going mad, and, as they left, they said: “Doesn’t the man realise that the horse is a gift from God?” A month later, the farmer’s son decided to break the mare in. However, the animal bucked wildly and threw the boy off; the boy fell awkwardly and broke his leg. The neighbours returned to the farmer’s house, bringing presents for the injured boy. The mayor of the village solemnly presented his condolences to the father, saying how sad they all were about what had occurred. The man thanked them for their visit and for their kindness, but he asked: “How do you know that what happened was a misfortune in my life?” These words left everyone dumbstruck, because they were all quite sure that the son’s accident was a real tragedy. As they left the farmer’s house, they said to each other: “Now he really has gone mad; his only son could be left permanently crippled, and he’s not sure whether the accident was a misfortune or not!” A few months went by, and Japan declared war on China. The emperor’s emissaries scoured the country for healthy young men to be sent to the front. When they reached the village, they recruited all the young men, except the farmer’s son, whose leg had not yet mended. None of the young men came back alive. The son recovered, and the two horses produced foals that were all sold for a good price. The farmer went to visit his neighbours to console and to help them, since they had always shown him such solidarity. Whenever any of them complained, the farmer would say: “How do you know that what happened was a misfortune?” If someone was overjoyed about something, he would ask: “How do you know that what happened was a blessing?” And the people of the village came to understand that life has other meanings that go beyond mere appearance.

Some People Who Mocked God

Tancredo Neves (President of Brazil): During the Presidential campaign, he said if I get 400 votes for my party, not even God
could remove me from Presidency.
RESULT: Sure he got the votes, but he got sick a day and died 36 days after the start of the term. Neither did he take the oath of presidency nor could he attend the office even once.

Cazuza (Bio-sexual Brazilian composer, singer and poet): During A show in Canecio ( Rio de Janeiro ), while smoking his cigarette, he puffed out some smoke into the air and said: God, that's for you.
RESULT: He died at the age of 32 of LUNG CANCER in a horrible manner.

The man who built the Titanic...

After the construction of Titanic, a reporter asked one of the builders how safe the Titanic would be. With an ironic tone he said: Not even God can sink it
RESULT: I think you all know what happened to the Titanic.

Bon Scott (Singer): The ex-vocalist of the AC/DC. On one of his 1979 songs he sang: Don't stop me; I'm going down all the way, down the highway to hell.
RESULT: On the 19th of February 1980, Bon Scott was found dead, he had been choked by his own vomit.

In Campinas , Brazil a group of friends, drunk, went to pick up a friend.....

The mother accompanied her to the car and was so worried about the drunkenness of her friends and she said to the daughter holding her hand, who was already seated in the car: My Daughter, Go With God And May He Protect You.
She (Daughter) laughed and responded: Only If He (God) Travels In The Trunk, Cause Inside Here.....It's Already Full
Hours later, news came by that they had been involved in a fatal accident, everyone had died, the car could not be recognized what type of car it had been, but surprisingly, the trunk was intact. The police said there was no way the trunk could have remained intact. To their surprise, inside the trunk was a crate of eggs, none was broken.

Pass this message! Hope that you don't ignore the Blessings and Mercy of God on you. And remember seek Him whilst He may be found!!!

Joke of the day...

A guy asks a girl in a library; Do you mind if I sit beside you?

The girl answered with a loud voice; I DON'T WANT TO SPEND THE NIGHT WITH YOU!.

All the students in the library started staring at the guy and he was embarrassed.

After a couple of minutes, the girl walked quietly to the guy's table and said, 'I study psychology and I know what a man is thinking, I guess you felt embarrassed right?'

The guy responded with a loud voice: What??? $200 JUST FOR ONE NIGHT!? THAT'S TOO MUCH!
...And now all the people in the library looked at the girl in shock.

Then, the guy whispered in her ears, 'I study Law and I know how to make others feel guilty'.
