Jab lag merī merī karai.
As long as he cries out, "Mine! Mine!",
Ŧab lag kāj ek nahī sarai.
none of his tasks is accomplished.
Jab merī merī mit jā▫e.
When such possessiveness is erased and removed,
Ŧab parabẖ kāj savārėh ā▫e. ||1||
then God comes and resolves his affairs. ||1||
Aisā gi▫ān bicẖār manā.
Contemplate such spiritual wisdom, O mortal man.
Har kī na simrahu ḏukẖ bẖanjnā. ||1|| rahā▫o.
Why not meditate in remembrance on the Lord, the Destroyer of pain? ||1||Pause||
Jab lag singẖ rahai ban māhi.
As long as the tiger lives in the forest,
Ŧab lag ban fūlai hī nāhi.
the forest does not flower.
Jab hī si▫ār singẖ ka▫o kẖā▫e.
But when the jackal eats the tiger,
Fūl rahī saglī banrā▫e. ||2||
then the entire forest flowers. ||2||
Jīṯo būdai hāro ṯirai.
The victorious are drowned, while the defeated swim across.
Gur parsādī pār uṯrai.
By Guru's Grace, one crosses over and is saved.
Ḏās Kabīr kahai samjẖā▫e.
Slave Kabeer speaks and teaches:
Keval rām rahhu liv lā▫e. ||3||6||14||
remain lovingly absorbed, attuned to the Lord alone.
