He Himself exercised His Creative Power


सुंन कला अपर्मपरि धारी ॥
Sunn kalā aprampar ḏẖārī.
In the Primal Void, the Infinite Lord assumed His Power.


आपि निरालमु अपर अपारी ॥
Āp nirālam apar apārī.
He Himself is unattached, infinite and incomparable.

 
आपे कुदरति करि करि देखै सुंनहु सुंनु उपाइदा ॥१॥
Āpe kuḏraṯ kar kar ḏekẖai sunnahu sunn upā▫iḏā. ||1||
He Himself exercised His Creative Power, and He gazes upon His creation; from the Primal Void, He formed the Void. ||1||


पउणु पाणी सुंनै ते साजे ॥
Pa▫uṇ pāṇī sunnai ṯe sāje.
From this Primal Void, He fashioned air and water.

 
स्रिसटि उपाइ काइआ गड़ राजे ॥
Sarisat upā▫e kā▫i▫ā gaṛ rāje.
He created the universe, and the king in the fortress of the body.

 
अगनि पाणी जीउ जोति तुमारी सुंने कला रहाइदा ॥२॥
Agan pāṇī jī▫o joṯ ṯumārī sunne kalā rahā▫iḏā. ||2||
Your Light pervades fire, water and souls; Your Power rests in the Primal Void. ||2||

 
सुंनहु ब्रहमा बिसनु महेसु उपाए ॥
Sunnahu barahmā bisan mahes upā▫e.
From this Primal Void, Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva issued forth.

 
सुंने वरते जुग सबाए ॥
Sunne varṯe jug sabā▫e.
This Primal Void is pervasive throughout all the ages.

 
इसु पद वीचारे सो जनु पूरा तिसु मिलीऐ भरमु चुकाइदा ॥३॥
Is paḏ vīcẖāre so jan pūrā ṯis milī▫ai bẖaram cẖukā▫iḏā. ||3||
That humble being who contemplates this state is perfect; meeting with him, doubt is dispelled. ||3||

 
सुंनहु सपत सरोवर थापे ॥
Sunnahu sapaṯ sarovar thāpe.
From this Primal Void, the seven seas were established.

 
जिनि साजे वीचारे आपे ॥
Jin sāje vīcẖāre āpe.
The One who created them, Himself contemplates them.

 
तितु सत सरि मनूआ गुरमुखि नावै फिरि बाहुड़ि जोनि न पाइदा ॥४॥
Ŧiṯ saṯ sar manū▫ā gurmukẖ nāvai fir bāhuṛ jon na pā▫iḏā. ||4||
That human being who becomes Gurmukh, who bathes in the pool of Truth, is not cast into the womb of reincarnation again. ||4||

 
सुंनहु चंदु सूरजु गैणारे ॥
Sunnahu cẖanḏ sūraj gaiṇāre.
From this Primal Void, came the moon, the sun and the earth.

 
तिस की जोति त्रिभवण सारे ॥
Ŧis kī joṯ ṯaribẖavaṇ sāre.
His Light pervades all the three worlds.

 
सुंने अलख अपार निरालमु सुंने ताड़ी लाइदा ॥५॥
Sunne alakẖ apār nirālam sunne ṯāṛī lā▫iḏā. ||5||
The Lord of this Primal Void is unseen, infinite and immaculate; He is absorbed in the Primal Trance of Deep Meditation. ||5||

 
सुंनहु धरति अकासु उपाए ॥
Sunnahu ḏẖaraṯ akās upā▫e.
From this Primal Void, the earth and the Akaashic Ethers were created.

 
बिनु थमा राखे सचु कल पाए ॥
Bin thammā rākẖe sacẖ kal pā▫e.
He supports them without any visible support, by exercising His True Power.

 
त्रिभवण साजि मेखुली माइआ आपि उपाइ खपाइदा ॥६॥
Ŧaribẖavaṇ sāj mekẖulī mā▫i▫ā āp upā▫e kẖapā▫iḏā. ||6||
He fashioned the three worlds, and the rope of Maya; He Himself creates and destroys. ||6||

 
सुंनहु खाणी सुंनहु बाणी ॥
Sunnahu kẖāṇī sunnahu baṇī.
From this Primal Void, came the four sources of creation, and the power of speech.

 
सुंनहु उपजी सुंनि समाणी ॥
Sunnahu upjī sunn samāṇī.
They were created from the Void, and they will merge into the Void.

 
उतभुजु चलतु कीआ सिरि करतै बिसमादु सबदि देखाइदा ॥७॥
Uṯ▫bẖuj cẖalaṯ kī▫ā sir karṯai bismāḏ sabaḏ ḏekẖā▫iḏā. ||7||
The Supreme Creator created the play of Nature; through the Word of His Shabad, He stages His Wondrous Show. ||7||

 
सुंनहु राति दिनसु दुइ कीए ॥
Sunnahu rāṯ ḏinas ḏu▫e kī▫e.
From this Primal Void, He made both night and day;

 
ओपति खपति सुखा दुख दीए ॥
Opaṯ kẖapaṯ sukẖā ḏukẖ ḏī▫e.
creation and destruction, pleasure and pain.

 
सुख दुख ही ते अमरु अतीता गुरमुखि निज घरु पाइदा ॥८॥
Sukẖ ḏukẖ hī ṯe amar aṯīṯā gurmukẖ nij gẖar pā▫iḏā. ||8||
The Gurmukh is immortal, untouched by pleasure and pain. He obtains the home of his own inner being. ||8||
